Interview Questions

When interviewing for a job you want to make sure you are prepared to ask questions. Having questions prepared lets the interviewer know you are interested in the position. Do not ask questions that are answered on the company website. This would portray to the interviewer that you did not prepare for the interview. Another good rule of thumb is not to start off the interview by asking about salary and benefits. These questions should wait until the subject is brought up by the employer.

The interview process is a two-way conversation. Your purpose is to sell yourself, learn about the position and to find out the next steps in the process. It is important to ask informed questions to gain knowledge about the employer and also make a good impression. Asking the right questions will let the employer know if you would be happy in the position and with the company.

Ask questions about the company. What are the strengths and weaknesses and what is the organization's plan for the next five years? This will give you some background of the company. You will also want to ask about the day to day responsibilities of the position and what skills are required to succeed at the job.

Towards the end of the interview ask about opportunities for advancement and how long before you would be considered. The last question to ask is when the company is planning on deciding who will fill the position.

In general, it is important to be prepared and make sure all of your questions are answered during the interview. Stay relaxed and natural and your interview will go smoothly.
