Laughing at Interviewer's Jokes

When interviewing for a job, any number of things can make or break one's chances at being further considered for another interview or obtaining the available position. As an interviewee, it is important to get a read of the interviewer as quickly as possible and decide how to react to certain questions and comments posed by the interviewer. One of the most important aspects to consider is whether or not the man or woman giving the interview fancies him or herself as a funny person.

After you have decided that the interviewer considers him or herself a budding comedian, it is very important to laugh at the jokes they may tell throughout the interview. One must also get a read on the type of sense of humor that your potential boss has. Be careful to not miss jokes they are telling if they have a dry sense of humor, but do not assume that their humor is the same as yours. Also, do not get over zealous in your laughing. Many times, things that you think are jokes may not be, and the laughing could be considered offensive. Finally, try and remember that just because the interviewer is telling jokes, it is not okay for you to do the same.

All in all, there are many things to consider when going into a job interview. How and when to laugh at what jokes can be one of the most important things. You have to get a read on the interviewer and react accordingly. However, do not stress yourself about this before going into an interview. Simply remember to be polite and relaxed, as well as professional and your interview will end successfully.
