Career Steps

So: you haven't yet made up your mind about what you want to do for the rest of your life?  If you’ve not yet found your ‘niche’ one  thing you may want to do is review the plethora of career self help books at your local library or bookstore to learn about various interesting businesses.

One way to identify a career is to know what your skills are and what comes naturally to you. You would be surprised how much of an advantage it is to know what you’re good at .  Don’t forget to consult the internet as well. It is full of sites that offer business opportunities.  You may wish to take one of the numerous career diagnostic tests to see where your strengths lie.

Maybe you are a good organizer and can show individuals or businesses how to set up and market their items. Perhaps you are a motivational speaker and can offer good, sound advice to those who are floundering.  Whatever career path you choose, however, planning will be key. For example, think about how much you want to make, and what interests you the most. Are you a sociable person or  would you prefer to work by yourself?  Do you tend to be communicative and enthusiastic or are you more reserved and quiet?  Is there a specific group of individuals you enjoy the most?  i.e.Seniors, young adults, children, adolescents?

The answers to these questions will determine, to some extent, what kind of a career you will be good at.  You will also want to talk with others to get their perspectives, and in so doing, perhaps learn from the mistakes they made. It is important to spend time researching what you like to do. As the saying goes, “If you enjoy what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Finding your career may initially seem like a daunting task, but a little planning and research should put you will be on the path towards success.
