Find Yourself that Job By Not Looking So Hard for it

We’ve all heard about the childless couple who goes for years and years without being able to conceive.  Then one day, they decide to visit the fertility clinic and pay the big bucks to have science help them out.

Before they have even gotten through their first treatment, the wife turns up pregnant!
Why do you suppose that is? Likely as not it is because the pressure is now off. They have taken the first step by enrolling in that clinic and are no longer pursuing their objective in such an obsessive manner.

Why are we talking about fertility and having babies here? Well, it’s because job hunting works the same way.  When you are desperately seeking a position, and have been obsessed with finding one, you are understandably tense, irritable and nervous. If you can let some of that emotion go and not drive yourself so hard, chances are you, like the couple above, would have a much easier time with your search.

The human brain is a maddeningly complex instrument.  Have you ever lost an important document and searched your home relentlessly to find it?  If you’re like most people, as soon as you stop looking for it, it suddenly shows up, usually when you’re no longer looking!

When you’re nervous or distracted about something, you aren’t at your best. So change your mindset by doing something different. Take a walk in the middle of the day, volunteer at a Senior Center, sign up for a community theatre group, help a friend in need.

The secret to locating that job is to STOP looking so hard for it! Once you’re no longer frenetic about your search, it's likely to show up.

Try this technique and see for yourself. You might be surprised by the results!
